In Devlog 43, I show off 3 of the new ship classes. The Destroyer, The Battlecruiser, and Dreadnought class ships. Each of these ships progress in size and cost. These new ships are still a work in progress, and will be balanced out as tier 1 ships with no special ship abilities just yet.
I did add a few new scripting commands to the scripting engine, allowing for the adjustment and purchase of ship base stats, as well as ship specials abilities.
I have also added a new type of mission called the dialog mission. These missions provide the pilot with the ability to converse with another pilot, making choices that ultimately effect the outcome of the mission itself. Each option follows a theme, passive, moderate, or aggressive. Depending on the random settings of the mission, you will not know right away what tactic will work. Even doing the same mission type with the same dialog will result in different options being selected to achieve easy success. Most of these missions are difficult to completely fail, as wrong choices only cause delays, and sometimes conflict.
I have been mostly focused on the tutorial start missions. I am really trying to fine tune them so that the first 45 minutes of the game are enjoyable, and don’t feel like a tutorial.
I have started the layout process for the SANDBOX game option. This will be the area where you can complete create and customize all the parameters that the game engine uses to run the Astrox universe. I will post more about this in an upcoming video.
