Astrox Faq (Frequently Asked Questions)

When will Astrox Imperium be released to the public?
Early Access launched at the end of March 2019, the official release is in the works. I keep adding things and making improvements.

How much will Astrox Imperium cost?
$15 bucks. It’s a fair price for an awesome game.

Where can I buy this game?
Astrox Imperium will be available on the Steam Store, and on GOG. I may decide to spread to a few other online game markets, but for right now, those are the two that will launch Astrox Imperium.

How long do you plan to have the game in Early Access?
I still have some things I would like to add to the game, and I am looking forward to the player feedback.

How many developers are there working on this project?
Just me. I have a few trusted helpers that break the game and help me balance it.

How do I get a free review copy for my YouTube channel?
I really appreciate the support / exposure, unfortunately the internet is full of scammers. To receive a free copy of what took me 5 years to create, you will need to take a minute to verify that you are the current owner of the YouTube channel you claim to host. Click here to get started.

Why not continue working on the Original?
The original game was designed as a web game for Kongregate.com. It was ported to Steam after numerous requests for the ability to download the game on Steam. I kept updating the game for a couple years, but the overall core structure of the code would need to change so drastically to include all the ideas and suggestions, that it would be easier to start from scratch. I started development of Astrox Imperium in the early fall of 2016.

Need music? Voice overs? Marketing?
I wouldn’t expect anyone to donate their hard work for nothing. However, I cannot take on any financial responsibilities for Astrox Imperium. I love this game, it is a part of me. The last thing I want is to ruin it by stressing over game sales to pay someone else for the icing on a cake that took me years to bake. Working on this game is fun for me, I want to keep it that way.

Will this be Multi-Player?
No… This will never be an MMO.
I may explore some Co-Op options in the future.

Is the universe procedurally generated?
No, and Yes. There are a few instances where I utilize some procedural mechanisms, but Astrox Imperium’s campaign mode takes place in a hand crafted universe. I wanted things to look and feel a certain way. Distances, obstacles, various aesthetics were all placed and position intentionally. I only use procedural generation for the smaller details in campaign mode.
Sandbox mode DOES use much more procedural generation, as the galaxy is created based on the options you select.

How long have you been working on this project?
…since 2014.
